Hi Everyone!!

I have been absent from blog land because I have been running around with my daughter on the weekends for dance competitions. It is her first year and she is loving it. Plus it helps that her group is doing awesome in their division. But this takes up a lot of time. Time waiting for them to take the stage. We get there 2 to 3 hours in advance of the estimated performance time. We get them ready and sit and wait and wait and wait. But when they hit that stage and we see them shine. It is all worth it. But I have a lot of down time and I can't bring my paints and pencils with me....I guess that I could but I am bringing so much there as it is. I try to keep my stuff simple. So I have been knitting.

I did this cowl with Saphira yarn and 10.5 needles. It is a superwash wool. And I love how it turned out.

This one is made with Thick n Quick Merino. It isn't a machine wash wool which is just a bummer. But I just loved the feel of it and the look. It is a one skein cowl.

Then I made some fingerless gloves because I never made a pair before. I don't remember the yarn that I used. But I do know that I used sock yarn.

I love knitting and crocheting as much as I love all the other crafts. Does anyone else knit/crochet? What are your favorite things to make? I like to make sweaters but I haven't been able to make any the last couple of years...My daughter has kept me running around that I always forgot where I left off. So for now it is scarves and gloves.

Over at Stamping Bella, the theme was dream home...what would it look like, where would it be, what could you write about it.

For me my dream home could be anywhere. It is about the feeling that it exudes when you see it and walk into it. It is all about being welcomed and embraced in warmth and having the feeling of support. The supplies that I used were acrylic paints, Faber Casell pens, and Liquid Pearls.

what i want to accomplish

Hi Everyone!!

My plans for the week went right out the window when one of my girls got sick. She has been sick since Sunday night. But the doctor says it is just viral and we just have to wait for it to run its course. So I am stuck at home to clean and play with her and my art goodies.

As I am in a constant battle to de-clutter my life, I am driven by the belief that I will create a beautiful place to grow and learn lots of fun things, a place to create art, a place to have a beautiful life, and a place to dream. The more I say it and the more I write it the more likely it will come true, yes? I hope so.

For this piece I drew my girl on sketch paper and cut her out and placed her on my background. The other materials that I used were acrylic paints, gesso, liquitax ink, pitt pens, and paint dabbers.

inspiration art journal page

Hi everyone! I had a blast with the TI blog hop. All the projects were so beautiful. And doing those projects inspired me to do some TI challenges this year.

And speaking of inspiration, I have been looking to find inspiration in the things in my everyday world.

I wanted to use the colors of my fave college football team, the MI Wolverines. Why? Because it was the colors of their helmet that popped in my head this morning. I made this page with my Pitt pens and my acrylic paints. It isn't the same blue. But I am loving this shade these days. I am trying to do an art journal page a day, but it is sometimes difficult because I have to take care of my kids and everyday things. You guys all know. So I will work in my journal everyday but I may not finish it for a couple of days. When I finish them, I will post them. I hope that you enjoy them. Please post comments with your thoughts. It is always nice to get some feedback.

Friends Are Flowers of Life- Tiddly Inks Blog Hop

Hello Everyone!!! It's time for some fun and excitement over at Tiddly Inks with this fun blog hop using friends or flowers as our theme. So here goes...

I tried to keep it simple. But it is such a hard thing to do. First I used watercolor paper and inked up the bottom half with Archival Ink and used a pearl mist over it to give it a shimmer. Then I used a Maya Road doily stamp in the same Archival Ink and stamped it on the top half. Next I placed some washi tape in the middle. I then used Wryn's Extras and Sentiments. I stamped a friendship Hero Arts stamp onto the hearts (which didn't come out crisply but I liked it) and colored it with Copics. Afterwards I took the heart from that set and enlarged it for my card. I cut out the center of it and used it as a template for a window.

I used Wryn- Grow a Little Love to peek out of the window and colored her with Copics and Stickles. And I again used the heart from the Sentiment set and shrunk it down adding one of the sentiments from the set (removing the image that came with the sentiment). I colored the heart with Pan Pastels and sprayed it with a pearl mist. It looks like a simple card but somehow I had a lot of steps. lol

I haven't played with TI images in a while and I had such fun making this card that I wanted to do something else...

This one turned out nice and simple. I used Happy Day Bouquet but don't know where to link to it at the shop. I looked around and couldn't find it. Maybe you'll have better luck. I colored it with Copics and Stickles. On the next layer, I used a Sizzix embossing folder and inked it up with Archival Ink.

Open it up and...

You see Fairy Fae colored in Copics and Stickles. I thought that her bouquet matched nicely with the flowers in the vase. I used my word program to type out the sentiment and inked up the edges. A very easy card to make.

Then I had another idea. LOL I was just having too much fun...

I made a shadow box with Lilli Claire- Did You Hear? I used paper from Creative Imaginations, the Devotion set. I also used a doily die inked in Distress Inks. And then I enlarged the bird Lilli Claire is holding. And I also took the flowers from Just for You and enlarged them. Everything is colored with Copics and Stickles unless otherwise stated. Behind Lilli Claire is a friendship stamp from Hero Arts. The outside sentiment was handwritten by me.

Did you notice that I took the picture of Lilli Claire prior to coloring her flowers in her hair? For that I used Liquid Pearls. I did color her shirt and belt with a warm grey color but it isn't showing up in the pictures.

starry sky art journal page

Hi everyone! I was going to add this to my last post, but thought that it was just getting too long.

I made the background with various supplies. I started doodling with my spray mists and stencils. Then I added some gelatos and pitt markers and some fluid acrylics. Then I did a white wash over it. Next I embossed the stars. I then drew in my girl who is staring up in the sky and feeling the wonderment that the night sky holds. I wrote in the background how I feel standing underneath the stars and staring up at them and the moon. I find myself finding my potential and feeling revitalized.

I still am working on my drawing skills. But I am having fun with it. So many people have their word of the year. Mine is a phrase, "Free your mind." This means letting go of my inner critic and drawing and accepting where I am and keep learning and expanding creatively.

Hi everyone!! I am a little late wishing you all Happy New Year but I have been trying to rest from all the holiday craziness. It is so nice to be able to sit and not have to get anything made or done by a certain time. I still have to get the Christmas stuff down, but I will leave it up til 3 Kings Day. I don't celebrate it but it is a good excuse.

Christmas was fun. Lots of presents for the kids at our house and at both grandparents' houses. We travelled to MI and had just enough snow to go sledding down the hill in front of my parents' house. By the next day the snow was melted.

The trip home was a little chaotic but we made it back and trying to get back on a normal sleep schedule. The kids quickly got used to going to bed around 11p.m. which doesn't fly during school days.

This weekend we are just taking it easy and bumming around the house. So nice to be able to do this. It was 50-60 degrees today. And we had a blast riding bikes in the driveway and being silly outside. Odd to be doing this in January when it is supposed to be frigid.

This year I am going to continue on my crafting journey and keep working on my drawing skills and my art journal. I am straying away from card challenges. I will still be making cards, but just for fun right now. I am also working on all my photos and scrapbooking them. And finally I will be knitting, crochetting, and sewing more this year. I look forward to sharing all my work with everyone.

Winter Wishes

Hi everyone!!! I hope that everyone is enjoying the holiday season. I have technically finished my Christmas shopping. I may still go out and buy little things in the next couple of days. But the pressure is off of me. YAY!! Now I have to wait till the kids are asleep on Christmas Eve so that I can wrap everything.

I just wanted to take the time to wish all of you a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year!!! This has been such a fun creative year for me and I am thrilled that you all were here to share my journey. Looking at the start of my blog, which was last year in December, to the things that I am doing today, my work has evolved. My direction has shifted. And I am loving the things that I am creating. I just wish that I had more time to play with all of my art stuff. I look forward to the continuation of my art journey and hope that you will be there to share the experience with me.

I wish you all a Merry Christmas. Happy Hanukkah. Happy Kwanzaa. And a Happy New Year. I don't think that I will be posting during the holidays. Cheers! And stay safe during the holidays.

art journal monday letters and numbers

Hi everyone! My printer is still down and out. We have been so busy with other stuff to get it functioning. So I am still laying low in doing any TI challenges. But I am enjoying working in my art journal. This week over at Stamping Bella we were to use numbers or letters on our page.

I chose to use my alphabet wheel and script stamps throughout my page. I also used my number stencil, but it didn't really show up in the picture. I used my acrylic paints create the background and the girl. Then I added some Tim Holtz washi tape and colored it with markers. I think of her as my Christmas girlie trying to figure out who to buy what for Christmas. And names and numbers are judt getting jumbled in her mind.

Hi everyone!! I have been taking a break from Tiddly Inks challenges because me printer has been acting up. And my dear hubby says that he will fix it...but he has been so busy. If he doesn't get to it this week then I am just going to buy a new printer.

Thank goodness that I have my art journal and many rubber stamps to give me a creative outlet. I have been keeping up with Stamping Bella's Art Journal Mondays. This week's theme was words.

I gessoed my page and added alcohol inks on the page. Then I stamped the border. I drew the girlie and colored her with acrylics and her hair was done in a faber castell marker.

And yesterday I had time to finish another page,

Again I gessoed my page and I drew out my girlie and colored her with acrylics and Distress Stains. I used a stencil in the background. And I used watercolors for the background.

I didn't use my stamps so much in these pages. But I do love using stamps in my pages.

I am loving drawing and working in my art journal. I hope that everyone tries to do one at some point. I find it so relaxing and freeing.

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!! I have been busy the last couple of weeks trying to help out with my kids' class parties and projects. And that left very little time to do any blogging. I have made cute little gifts for all their classmates.

The boats are origami and the turkey is an Inky Antics stamp. The sail is a nestabilities die and the pole is a skewer. The turkey is colored with Copics. I had color 18 of these guys. My printer is still not working. I am ready to just go out and buy a new one. Behind the sail is a little chocolate turkey that I got from Munsons. The boat will float in water. So the kids could bring it home and race it in the tub before tossing it out.

The stamp is an Inky Antics again colored with Copics. This one was for the preschool class. After eating their lolly they have a cute little puppet to play with.

Outside of these, I had to help my girls decorate turkeys. My preschool didn't really care much in decorating. So I had to do most of the work. My second grader is more independent and did most of the planning and decorating.

She had to disguise her turkey. So she chose to make her into Annie from the Magic Treehouse books. She is smelling a flower to hide her beak and is carrying a Magic Treehouse book in her pocket and a medalion.

My 2nd grader also had to create a rocket and it was so hard for me not to jump in and create and color everything. I wanted this to reflect her creativity. But when I looked at all the other rockets the other kids made, I saw that other parents did most of the work. So I don't know if my daughter will win a prize, but she had fun creating it.

I did help her to prop up the fairy on top and xeroxed the fairy at Kinko's for her. The theme for the rocket was to be based on any book.

I had a little time to work in my sketch book and I made my own Thanksgiving girlie.

I used pencils and as you can see I didn't get to finish her shoes. I wanted to put her in my art journal but had no time. next week I'll do it.

Hi! I hope that everyone is enjoying the weekend. I had hopes of raking leaves and cleaning. But I am battling a cold and the wind outside would just aggravate my situation. So no raking. And it's the weekend and the kids are home making a mess where I just cleaned. So I tidied up and went to my craft space...AAAHHHH Fun time for me : )

I just used what I had on hand as my canvas which happened to be foam board. Then I stamped it up and splashed on some paint and added a little bit of my paper stash. This sheet is from MME. Then I added washi tape along the edges. Next I drew my face and painted it with acrylics and Distress Stains.

I am really liking how it turned out. I think that I need to get more bold on shading. But I am still liking her. Hopefully I can make more tomorrow....

tiddly inks challenge #72

Hi! I am still relishing in the fact that I am able to cook meals and do laundry and get out of bed and not be cold. Losing power this time around affected so many of us. Everyone is going out and buying generators and stocking up on batteries. Through this I realize that my survival skills are bad. No power means finding a restaurant and hotel. I need to toughen up and be able to rough it.

So the month of November at Tiddly Inks is anything goes. And as December approaches and my need to prep for Christmas intensifies, I decided that this week I would use a TI image to make my first day of my advent calender.

I used Peachy Pixie from the rubber TI stamps over at Stamping Bella. I have been avoiding using my digis lately because my printer is not working right. Thank goodness that I have these stamps : ) I colored her in Copics and added some Stickles. Then I punched out 2 little birdies and used Liquid Pearls. The doilly is a Memory Box die that I colored with Inka Gold (the lace). The box is made out of some cardstock that I haven't used in several years. So I gessoed it and painted it. And I used some Maya Road stamps on it with some Archival Ink. I added some ribbon and the border is a MS punch. The number 1 is done up with Liquid Pearls and Stickles. It measures out to be 3 x 4.5x1 inches. I am so proud that I used something that has been hoarding.

Halloween goodie boxes

Okay. This is past the holiday. But with all the craziness, Halloween has been postponed till the November 12 here. So I am still in season technically. I made these haunted houses for my daughters' classes party treats. My younger one was able to have a Halloween party because it was Friday before the storm. But my older daughter lost out in the class party. No party for her class : ( But the kids were happy when she passed out the treat boxes.

I was inspired by the treat boxes Starla made in September. She used a Sizzix die. I was going to buy it but realized in time that the boxes would be too small. So I searched the web for some kind of template. And I found one at Splitcoasters, the 2-5-7-10 box. I changed it up a little to make it taller to fit all the goodies that I put inside.

I used regular cardstock from A.C. Moore. Then scored it and cut out all the necessary parts. Then I stamped it with the bat background stamp from Hero Arts. I used my Cricut to cut out the windows and door and the tree. I think it was from the monsters cart. I punched out the fence from the Martha Stewart punch using glitter paper. I like how the fence was bent in places giving it more of a rundown look. The roof is Halloween paper from last year. And the spider and the web are from Inky Antics. And the stickers are from Recollections ($1 something at Michaels). The ribbon is also from last year. I got it either at Michael's or at A.C. Moore. The windows look funny because they have a shimmer to them and reflected the flash. To keep the house put together well, I used Scor tape.

The kids loved it. It was a nice surprise for them. And inside were fun Halloween toys: a stamp, a glider, a jumping frog and an eyeball patch. Good times for all.

tiddly inks challenge #71 anything goes

Hi All!! What a week this has been. That nor'easter really kicked our butts!! My whole area was pretty much without power for the week. We were all searching for hotels to stay warm and dry and to plug into the internet. Barnes and Nobles was packed with people plugged into every single one of their outlets. Panera was the same way. Gas stations had lines that had us waiting for 2 hours for a fill up. The laundromats were packed with people wanting to clean clothes. And our streets and yards were covered with broken tree limbs and downed wires. I was personally out of power for 7 days. There are still others with no power. I am so happy to be able to cook a meal and do laundry in my house. I need to be better prepared for these disasters. When the hurricane hit it wasn't as bad because it wasn't so cold outside.

For this week's TI Challenge we could do anything as long as we used a TI image. I can't wait to go through and see what everyone made. I wanted to create a card with dimension but very little bulk.

I used Annie from the TI rubber stamps at Stamping Bella and colored her with Copics. And I used Liquid Pearls to give her dress some shimmer. The card itself started out as white cardstock. I first stamped a script stamp. Next I spray misted a stencil with some Glimmer Mist. Then I used my glue pad and a swirl stamp from Hero Arts and stamped it on the card. Once it sat for a bit I used my Ritz Glitter on it. Finally I inked up the edges with some Archival Ink.

I hope your week went much smoother than mine. And I have to say that I am so happy to have been able to participate in this week's challenge and play with all my crafty stuff. I had missed them all week. Have a great rest of the weekend!

tiddly inks challenge #70 silvery blues

With Halloween coming in fast, I thought that I wouldn't participate in this challenge. I still have to finish helping the girls to make their trick-or-treat bags, add some lining to my daughter's cape, get ready for the candy fairy, and do the goodie boxes for my daughter's class. And being the room mom for her class I have to go and buy some supplies for their class party. I am feeling the stress. And to top it off a noreaster is headed our way!! But this storm inspired me to do this card.

I used a pixie from the Tiddly Inks rubber stamps from Stamping Bella. I colored her with Copics. Behind her I used a Memory Box stamp that I embossed in silver. Then I swirled in some white Distress Stain on the blue cardstock. I added some Stickles swirls and used Stickles on the star on the wand. Finally I added a silver ribbon and added my sentiment. My winter wish at this moment is for summer. I am not quite ready to pull out my sweaters.

Art Journal Mondays: Punches

I have started a new journal for my journey in learning to draw. And this week at the Stamping Bella blog, we had to create a page using punches. So I painted my girlie and added the embelishments.

For the background and for the girlie I used acrylic paints and some Distress Stains. The circles are embossed with a Sizzix folder and the borders are various ek Success border punches.

What do you think? Constructive criticism welcome. As I have said before I am still a novice in drawing and would love to get some hints and tricks to improve : )

tiddly inks challenge #69 halloween is coming

The weeks are just flying by. Halloween is almost here. How is that possible?! And Christmas is right around the corner!! I have got to start thinking of how to make my Xmas/holiday cards. I remember when I was a kid and things couldn't move fast enough. Now I am trying so hard to stay on top of things hoping to find an extra hour somewhere. I am feeling old. LOL But my daughter and her friends think that I am 22. That boosts my ego just a little : )

So for this week's TI challenge, we had to do a Halloween theme.

I used Monstah Bash, a Stamping Bella Tiddly Inks stamp. I colored them with Copics and Spica pens. I added Liquid Pearls and Stickles. Behind them is the haunted house from Memory Box embossed in black.The smaller ticket is also a Memory Box stamp. I colored it with Distress Inks. The star paper is from last year's K & company Halloween stack. The bottom layer is colored with some paint.

tiddly inks challenge #68 boys will be boys

Hi everyone! I am gearing up for the big University of Michigan versus Michigan State game tomorrow. I have been a huge Wolverine fan since I was a kid. And this is a big game. Go Blue!!!

For this week's challenge we had to do a boy theme.

I used Ty the Tap Dancer and Type Me Some Flowery Wishes as my images. I used my computer to add my sentiment. Ty was colored with Copics. The striped paper and green dot paper are from MME. The hearts are made from packaging paper, Stickled up and then stapled to the paper. The wood grain is a Hero Arts stamp. And I added a little doodle with Liquid Pearls.

mermaid girlie

Hi everyone!

I am trying to organize my craft area again. And I wonder how did I get so much stuff. LOL I love all things crafty. And at some point I should be good and have everything I need/want, right? I wonder what organization system I need, but it is hard to plan this when I don't know how much other stuff I will be getting. I would love to have some magical cabinet that stores all my stuff nicely and neatly. Instead I have to think of what can I get that I can add on to without it looking awkward or overwhelming my room.

And in the midst of cleaning I started to play...

For this art journal page, I used some Color Wash for the background. The girlie is made with oil pastels and her hair is done with Distress Stain. I will probably add a few more things to the page, but right now I need to finish my craft area.

art journalling: pretty girl

Hi Everyone! I am having a wonderful weekend basking in the warmth of the sunny weather. I am trying to make the most out of these days because I know that the cold weather is just around the corner.

I have been stealing moments to sit and sketch as the girls are playing with their father. And I drew a girl that I just loved. I think that she turned out really well. And I thought that she deserved her own art journal page.

I colored her with Copics, Distress Stains, and paints. The background is done with pastels and stamped with a Basic Grey image. And the border is made from various scraps on my table along with some washi tape. A very simple page. But I love this page.

Art Journal Monday monochromatic

For this week's theme we had to use just one color. I chose pink. I do love pink more so these past few years. Maybe it is because I have two daughters who love pink.... But Pink is a powerful color. It is just not about cutsy sweetness. It is about love, kindness and healing.

I used various pink paints. Then I added some scrap paper that I colored pink. And I found this paper with pink roses. So I added them on.For my girlie I used pink ink to color a paper towel and cut it into a skirt adding ribbon to it. I used Pitt pens and Liquid Pearls to do her hair. Her face and body are made from scrapbook paper.

I think that I will do journal pages for each color. I will be posting this picture on Stamping Bella's blog on Monday.

Hi All!

I can't believe Halloween is just around the corner. This year is just flying by me. Thank goodness I carry my camera with me everywhere so that I can capture the good moments.

For this week's TI challenge we had to use paint on our project.

I used several TI images Ghoulfriend, Door of Dreams, and Sollytude. I colored them with Pitt pens and used a white sakura pen in Solly's hair. The border is made from scraps of paper laying around my craft area. And the background is made with Claudine Hellmuth paints and Stickles.

I tried to get a picture of my journal page with a glow around Solly. It didn't quite turn out the way that I wanted. But it was close.

tiddly inks challenge #66 Clearly the Best! Use Acrylic

Hi again! So nice of you to stop by : ) I am having fun playing with all my crafty stuff. I just wish that I could do something with all of it to add to the financial side of life. I am working on all of the good bags for my daughters' classes and teachers for Halloween. My hubby wonders why I put so much time into these things. And I tell him that I love seeing the kids smile when they see their little gifts. I'll post a picture when I get things looking pretty.

In the meantime, I have my TI Challenge card done. We had to use something acrylic somewhere on the card.

I used Hi There (boy) and Steampunk Papers from TI. The flower is made from the Steampunk Papers and then I cut it out into several flowers using a Heartfelt Creations flower set. The center is an acrylic bead with Stickles underneath and colored with a Copic marker. Then I colored Hi There with Copics. Next is the swirl from Memory Box that I painted with acrylic paint. The patterned paper is made with chalk inks using some Hero Arts stamps. I added a few more acrylic beads with Stickles underneath them. Finally I used some pearl white acrylic paint on the purple layer.

Magazine inspired art journal page

I don't really buy magazines. They just add to my chaos. But at Stamping Bella art journal monday we had to use a magazine picture or phrase or something that spoke to us.

So I took a picture of a lovely garden that just spoke to me to create my page. The owl is a Greeting Farms stamp. The butterflies are a Memory Box die. And I used paints and gesso to create the layers.

Hi! I am finally able to sit down and post some of my pages. But it will be a quick post because my life is just that crazy.

The first two were inspired by a visit with my mom who has Alzheimer's Disease. It is so very hard to see her fade away...

The next one is from Art Journal Monday at Stamping Bella. The week's theme was tags.

This one uses a part of a card that I received years ago and I always thought it was cute. But I always wondered what I was going to do with it. It finally has a place.

The next one was based on a song that was stuck in my head.

Okay, I guess that's it for sharing today. I will try to post my pages more regularly. Art journalling is so much fun because there is no right or wrong. It allows you to be free in your creativity and what may start out as a bloody mess can turn into something that you just adore. And if you truly don't like your creation, just dump some gesso on it and start over. And for an added bonus for me is that I am using up all the things that I am hoarding : )

Hi there!! Since school has started for my girls I have been nonstop running around between all the school activities and dance classes. I still am planning on posting some of my other journal pages. Hopefully I can do that tomorrow while the kids are in school.

I have to say that I love art journalling. I don't know why I ever stopped. And the 2 week challenge at TI was to create an art journal page.

And I had a little insert next to it. So I decided to add it to the project.

I used paints, newspaper, an ek Success punch for the big flower, Heartfelt Creations die for the little flowers, Liquid Pearls, Copics, Stickles, Distress Inks, stamps, computer texts and of course some TI images Fairy Fae, Minnie 1, Autumn Bugg.

Hi again! I have been having busy trying to get ready for my daughter's birthday this coming weekend. So I am going to try to make this a quick post....

For this week's TI challenge we had to make something that says a fond farewell to the fun sun days of Summer and hello to the gorgeous colors of Fall.

I used Bathing Beauty and colored her with Copics and added Glossy Accents on the inner tube and Stickles to the water. Her backdrop is made with a Memory Box stamp and I used my computer to make the faded text on it. The leaves are from Heartfelt Creations and colored with Twinkling H2O's, and Liquid pearls were added to them. My sentiment was made on the computer. The purple paper is a scrap from last Halloween and I distressed it with some white paint. The card itself was painted with acrylic paints and then I added some random stamping and did a little doodling on it.

Inside

I used Twisty Tree, but I can't figure out where it is in the shop. I colored it with Copics and sprayed some of Tim Holtz Color Wash on the background. Then I added some acrylics around the tree. The sentiment was made on the computer.

After making this I wondered what I would do with this card. And I thought I should just add it to my art journal because I probably won't give it to anyone. So I went to work...

I used some oil pastels to make the background. Then I used some white paint to distress it. Then I added some Heartfelt Creation leaves and Memory Box butterflies. I made some doodling and added some Stickle swirls. Then I added Bloom Little Lily which I colored with Copics and added Stickles to her. I also used Dandylion Pixie which I colored with Copics and used some flocking on the dandylion. I hand wrote the sentiment...I am trying really hard to like my penmanship. But the only way to like it is to keep working on it. Then I sewed in the card and added some Tim Holtz tape to cover the seam.

And I changed up the inside of the card. I used various paints and stencils. I also added Stickles around the tree.

I am loving my art journal. I should post some of my other pages that I have made...I will do it on a less crazy day.

tiddly inks challenge #63 reading fun

Hi everyone! This week went by fast!! I have been busy with getting things back into the school days routine. But really that wasn't much to do. So I honestly don't know where this week went.

For this week's challenge over at TI was to create a reading inspired project. It could be based on a book or a general reading theme. When I saw this, I was stumped. But after pondering a bit, I realized it was a wonderful opportunity to finally make a notebook out of some of the paper that is sitting at my crafting area. (It is one of my 10 things that I want to use it or lose it). And the theme of my project is the muses and their way of inspiring mere mortals to create wonderful things.

For my outside cover, I took a transparency and used one of the pixies from the set at Stamping Bella. I first stamped it onto the transparency and then took normal cardstock and colored her in with Copics and Stickles and put the colored copy underneath the transparency image. Next I added Druscilla. I stamped her on paper and then I colored her with Copics and added Stickles. Next I glued her on top of the transparency. Also on the transparency I added a Hero Arts stamp and colored it with some Faber Castell markers. Here is a close up of Druscilla.

Underneath the transparency I created the background with gesso, paints, markers and a little of bit of paper. I then used one of the images from Steampunk Papers to layer on top of it. I added some Stickles around the pixie. Then I typed up my sentiment on the computer and added it to the page.

As I said earlier this notebook is made up of some of my papers. I just went through the pile and picked random sheets and cut them at various sizes and stacked them in randomly. Then I sewed the pages together and used washi tape to cover up the seam.

I plan to carry this in my bag and use it to jot down things that I need to remember to do or ideas for projects or to write down something funny one of the kids say that I want to use in my scrapbooking. I will probably stamp on each page or doodle or paint or do a combo. So it is an everything journal : ) I can't wait til I reach my last page and flip through all that this book holds.

1st day of school teacher gift

Hi everyone!

It is the first day of school for my 2nd grader. She was SOOO excited that I did not have to tell her to get ready for school. She did everything all on her own...I wonder how long it will last. Every year I like to give the teacher a little something. I bought an organizer and dressed it up with Mo Manning images, DCWV papers and washi tape.

On this side I used Sorry Shanna. Behind her is a black gessoed paper and washi tape. I used black gesso so that my daughter could write a message on it and on future days her teacher can write a message on it.

On this side I used For Teacher 2 . I colored him with Copics. And I used white gesso behind him.

On this side I used Berkley. I colored her with Copics and Spica pens with white gesso behind her.

On this side I used Yale. Again he was colored with Copics with white gesso behind him.

And I made a sunflower card attached to a skewer for her where my daughter wrote her a sweet message.

When we gave it to her teacher she seemed to like it. I hope that she has fun writing the little board.

Well, I am off to do some cleaning and crafting....Ok I am off to craft and think about cleaning. lol Have a great day!!

hurricane is coming our way art journal page

Hi everyone! I am as prepared as I can be for the hurricane. But in my area it is supposed to show up as a tropical storm. This can mean winds up to 80 mph and power outages. I am crossing my fingers that we don't lose power.

I did find some time to play in my journal.

I am working on liking my handwriting. But I personally think that this page would be nicer if I used computer generated letters. The glare is preventing you from reading all the words. It says "Shelter from the storms." Home has always been the place that I went to when things got rough. I always felt safe and rejuvenated. And I hope that we can weather this storm with little problems.

Ok I am going back to getting the house ready.

tiddly inks challenge #63 back to school bookmark

Hi all! I somehow missed the deadline for the last challenge. I tried slipping it in under the wire during Monday afternoon but I was not slick enough. So I am going to make sure to get this thing in before Monday.

I spent the morning trying to get somewhat prepared for the chance that the hurricane will come and hit us with some force. But at the same time I don't want to go overboard. We're not on the coastline. I just made sure that we had water and batteries and a good working flashlight. I am knocking on wood/crossing my fingers that we just don't lose power.

For this challenge we had to make a bookmark. And I decided to make one for my daughter who is an avid reader...which I love.

I used Tanker Fairy Sits and colored her with Copics and Twinkling H2O's. I also added a little Liquid Pearls on the goggles. The pictures in the book are from Steam Punk Papers and Love Grows. The book is from a digi set that I have and put it all together in Photo Shop. The background is made with acrylic paint, gesso, an owl stamp from Hero Arts and a flower from Memory Box. I made it on a 3x5 note card cut to fit into a baseball card protector. I cut a couple of slits in the back and attached a extra large rubber band (I found these at Staples) to it.

The thing that I have always hated about bookmarks is that they can fall out of the book if the book tips over. The rubber band will make sure that my daughter won't lose her place. And when she gets bored with the picture, we can always make a new one.

I'm back from vacation and now prepping for the start of school. The craziness never ends. And as soon as my little one is settled into preschool I'll begin working again. My 7 y.o says that I must be so excited to go back to work...It is exciting but it is just more work on top of what I do already. **sigh** I won't be working 9 to 5. I will be working while the kids are in school and be there to pick them up and hang out with them at home. The wonderfulness of being self employed ; )

For the TI challenge, I thought that I would make a couple of note cards that I will be slipping into my 7 y.o.'s school bag at some point through the year. I love sending her notes in school.

The first one, "Whale to GO!!!" uses Whale Done found in the TI basement. I colored it with my Copics and added Stickles on the hearts. I popped it up on top of the background that I made with Twinkling H2O's and watercolor markers.

The Berry Sweet card uses the strawberry from Minnie Berry . I colored it with Copics and used stickles on the stem. Then I sprayed some shimmer over it. I popped this over my doodle background made with Twinkling H2O's and gesso.

Now I am off to make some dinner and figure out what to give my daughter's teacher for a 1st day of school present.

Hi all! Tomorrow I am off to Michigan to be with my family so this may be the last post until I get back. Today I am busy trying to get stuff for the trip. I need to have stuff to keep the girls happy on the plane. I love when they pick something out and say how much they love it and never touch it once it enters the house. How does that happen? Is the lighting in the store or the music that they play hypnotic that causes them to want things they don't want? Hopefully we got things that they will truly like to play with. I do not like being that parent with the screaming kids.

For this week's challenge we had make a giant tag or ticket for any project. I decided that I would make myself a luggage tag so that I could know which black suitcase was mine quickly.

So I used Owlette and TI's free luggage image and MIC's Steampunk Flying Machine on some grunge paper so that it could handle some wear and tear. Then I used my acrylic paints and Pearl Mists to create the background. For the imagesI used Twinkling H2O's and Copics. Then I distressed it with some black ink. I punched in a grommet. Then I used Mod Podge to seal in everything. On the back is all my info. I am also going to make a sleeve to give it added protection.

Here it is in it's plastic sleeve with washi tape on the outside.

Hope you guys all have a great next couple of weeks. I will miss doing the challenges while I am gone. Maybe I will bring some markers and supplies to be able to participate. But more than likely I will be busy taking care of things around my parents' house. So I will plan on touching base when I return home. Hugs to all : )

definitely into art journalling

I am enjoying art journalling. It brings me a sense of peace and an excuse to use all the things that have just been sitting around and collecting dust. Most importantly I like art journalling because there is no right or wrong. A mistake on a page is seen as an opportunity to make it into something that works...or just cover it with gesso or paper or paint and start over. And it just fits my style...it fits everyone's style. And I am enjoying art journalling over at Stamping Bella because it is about being a part of a group who enjoy art journalling. There are no prizes. No real deadlines. Just wonderful inspiration. There is no theme for this week, just a suggestion of paint splattering to get us started...

This is actually 2 pages. I did one yesterday and one today. For both I used gesso. Then I began my layering of paint, tissue paper, cardstock, water soluble crayons, pastels, doodling, and stamping. This journal is showing itself to be a book on quotes that I enjoy or quick thoughts. There is no lengthy journalling. I just want to have a place where I have my fave quotes and thoughts. On the left page you can notice the Gertie from Stamping Bella. On the right page I used a flower from Heartfelt Creations. The rest I made with tissue paper and Kraft paper and various coloring instruments.I also used some modelling paste for the leaves of the trees. I didn't really paint splatter. I like to scribble with my colors andy spread it out with water or with mists. Or I like to just spread the paint around.

Hi everyone! Did anyone make it to CHA in Chicago? One of these days I would love to go. It seems like it would be so much fun.

So this week's challenge was to be inspired by a nature movie.

I figure that Up! was a nautre movie about Paradise Falls and a chocolate loving bird. That just screams nature to me : ) For this card I used several TI images, Home Sweet Home, the balloons from Whaz Up..or Down? Love Map colored, and Tree border from Rainbow Forest set. I would link you over to where they are found at the TI shop, but I can't find them. I may be looking in the wrong spot. Other images that I added the bird and the bottle cap are from Google Images. I colored the house with Copics. I distressed the map and colored the balloons with Liquid Pearls and Copics. I doodled a circle borders. And the bottom is stamped with chalk inks and a Hero Arts stamp. I painted the sky background. And then I added a sparkly ribbon....It is so hard for me to make a CAS card. I must try harder to do one...maybe next time ; )

crayon journal page

Hi everyone! I have been having fun rediscovering my art journalling. I used to do it. But then I backed away from for a while. Now with so many people feeling its vibe I too have jumped aboard the art journalling adventure. I have decided to join in the Stamping Bella art journalling challenges. This week was to use crayon somewhere on the page. No special crayons just the everyday kids' crayons.

Can you find the crayon usage? It is actually my bottom layer of color. I took crayon shavings and placed them randomly on my page and used an iron and wax paper to melt them. Then I added all my other goodies including acrylic paint, some gesso, ink, stamping and doodling. I also used crayon on top of my butterfly wings in he swirls.

Hi everyone! I've had a hectic but exciting week. We are getting our house resided and the roof done. And we are getting new windows. It's like getting a brand new house. Our house looks so different. It used to be dark brown. Now it will be a pale yellow. It feels nice. But we have workers all around the house starting at 7 a.m. So no sleeping in. But it is so worth it.

For this week's challenge we had to base a card on our favorite summer or scary movie. I couldn't decide. So I decided to make 2 cards to see which one turned out better.

For this card I used Heartbroke Happy with my favorite summer time movie Grease. I love that show. I colored her with my Copics and Twinkling H2O's and used a little Stickles. I used Liquid Pearls on the heart. Then I took an open stock image from Google for the Grease car. I removed the color through PSE and re-colored it with regular markers because I feel this way the red is more vivid. Then I paper pierced the white backing. Then I used alcohol inks for the bottom layer. Can you tell that I used glossy paper with that big fat reflection on it? The sentiment is taken from the scene where Danny sees Sandy wearing her greaser outfit.

The next card is based on the fact that there is always a superhero movie.

I used Masked Avenger and Batty Bugg for my movie poster. I first used Batty in PSE and made her more transparent to my background. Then after printing her out, I used my acrylic paints and added more color. Then Masked Avenger was colored with Copics with some Stickles on the cape and wand and Liquid Pearls for her hair tie. Under the Avenger I added more Stickles over Batty to show that she's waving her wand. The bottom layer is painted with my acrylics to mimic a popcorn container. The sentiment is taken from the open stock photos on Google and then fixed up in PSE to add my sentiment.

I hope that you have a great weekend. I have to clean the room that I scrap in because the guys have to get in there to put in windows. And I have papers everywhere. lol. It is a forever process for me to get organized.

hot air balloons

Hi everyone! I posted a project that I made in the last post & I thought that I would talk about it here.

I love hot air balloons. I grew up in Michigan and would see them all the time flying by my house. Sometimes they would get close enough to the ground to wave to us or drop us free goodies. They were magical. My imagination would wonder and take me to so many places in those balloons that I would see. My favorite times were when I saw them as the sun was setting. The sky was so beautiful and then came along some lovely balloons. When I visit Michigan now, I don't see them. It is a very rare site. But growing up it was the norm. So much so that I had a dog who was deathly afraid of them. She would break away from us and beeline it straight to the house and hide on the porch. We would find her just shaking and looking at the sky trying to avoid them. I am trying to convince my hubby to take me to a hot air balloon festival one of these days. But they start so early in the morning that he is reluctant to go. He isn't enamored with them like I am.

For my piece,I used foam board & painted over it with acrylics. Then I took some fabric from my bin and added it for the ground and for the balloons. Then I used some ribbon to dress up my balloons a little. I then added string and used some newspaper to make the baskets for the balloons. Then I added some Flower Soft being sprinkled off the hot air balloons. I stamped on the bicycle and used some Tim Holtz stamps throughout the piece. The girl is made with some newspaper and various papers from my stash. I have no idea who made them. I painted over some of it and painted her hair.Then I randomly added white paint and used black ink to edge the piece.

I am not sure if it is done just yet. I think it is missing something. But I will have to sit on this one for a while to figure out if it is done. Have a great night!

10 things i need to use or lose update

Hi everyone! I would have posted this yesterday, but Blogger wasn't letting me do much of anything during my free moment. So today I am discussing my 10 things on the 10th. I have spent the month of June trying to work on this list that I posted on June 10th. It is so hard to try to organize my stuff. I can organize my mother's stuff so easily. I can sort through all of her stuff and figure things out. But my stuff...forget it! It is a long a painful process. But I am feeling lighter and freer with each thing that is sorted through.

10. the kids' toys. I have sent a bag of them to Goodwill. But I had to do it behind my kids' backs because they would have started playing with all the toys that I was putting away and would have protested as I was handing the bag to the guy at Goodwill. The sad thing is that Goodwill won't take anything that kids ride on. So the toy cars that they rode on that are in still great shape had to be tossed away.

09. fabric. The bin of fabric is still there. But I have been using it the fabric little by little through the collages that I am making.. as you can see in my above collage. I still have to figure out what to do with the bulk of it because I don't think that I can make that many collages.

08. yarn. The yarn hasn't been touched. I still am searching for some cool patterns. But I have too many wool skeins. I hate doing dry cleaning. And washing wool brings on the factor of felting and shrinking whatever it is that I make. So I am searching Ravelry to find something to do with all of this stuff.

07. my big Xyron. I think that this is on its way to the tag sale. It still sits on the shelf unused.

06. eyelets. I haven't touched these either. In fact I completely forgot that they were on my list.

05. cork. I wanted to try to design some kind of wall hanging. But I couldn't get it to work. I think that I have to tweek my design. But in the meantime, I am using some cork as a stamp in my art journalling.

04. clothes. I did go through some of the clothes. I gave a bag to Goodwill. Hubby thinks that I should give away my really nice clothes since I don't wear them these days. I told him that I would give them away if he is willing to buy me a whole new wardrobe when I go back to work. The issue has been dropped. lol

03. sweaters Not touched yet. They sit in the bag taking up space. I haven't gotten the nerve up to felt them up & cut them up.

02. ribbon. I have used some of it in my projects. There is still tons of it still in my stash. But I am proud to say that I have not bought any to add to my madness.

01. paper. I am slowly using up the paper that I don't like in my collages. I have painted over them or used them as templates.

So overall, I think that I have done a good job at working on my list. I could do better, but it is definitely a step in the right direction. I hope that you are doing better at sorting through stuff.

tiddly inks challenge- get an attitude-we are bad to the bone

Hi everyone! I hope the summer is treating you all well. I am keeping busy making things with my girls. We watercolored, made necklaces, and have gone to Michael's and A.C. Moore for the kids' make and take events. Tomorrow we will be going to Joann's to sign up for some kids' camps. Tomorrow the camp classes are 50% off . So if you are in the U.S. and have kids 7 and older, you may want to go and check out the classes.

This challenge had us making a card with skulls and some attitude. For my card I had to try my hand at the weekly technique at Splitcoaststampers. I just love making different looking cards.

I used the new Whatever! image. She is such a cutie!. I colored her with my Copics and I did the background in oil pastels and I used the skull border that came with the digi. The black band was written on with my white gel pen. And my sentiment was computer generated. The paper is from K & Company halloween stack from last year.

Can you tell that I am not fond of mosquitos? lol This year we bought these great personal bug zappers that are shaped like tennis rackets and work wonderfully to kill these things before they bite us : )

For the inside of the card, I again used the skull border. And I added the mosquito from Elizabeth O. Dulemba and the fly swatter is from inky antics. I attached the fly swatter to some clear packaging to give it some lift off the page. For my sentiment I inked the edges with some chalk ink.

This was really simple to make & it would be great for gift cards. I am sure that I will make it for a gift at some point this year.

It isn't the fireworks that I saw last night. I couldn't get a great shot. I had my girls climbing all over me oohing and aaahhing. So I grabbed a pic from the Google gallery.

I have missed doing collages and art journalling. I used to do these all the time, but took a long break from it. But now I feel revitalized. I think that I will be using these ways to express this summer's adventures.

I doctored up my photo through PSE. I made my background with oil pastels. I used kraft paper & a sizzix wood grain embossing folder to make to wood pieces & distressed them with Tim Holtz's Distress Inks. The birds and saying are from Tangie. The music is from Google images. I used Distress Inks to age it a little. The small flying birds are from Tim Holtz & the larger flying bird is from Memory Box & colored with Twinkling H2O's.

Hi everyone! Summer vacation isn't much of a vacation for me. Is it for anyone out there other than the kids? I remember my mom saying to me "Go out & play." And that is what I did. I hung around the neighborhood. These days it is playdate plans and day camps and anything else I can find to entertain the kids and exercise their minds and bodies. I am exhausted and still have dinner to make. I have to find the right flow to things and then I think that I will be movin' and groovin'.

Hi everyone! I've been making a few things and will have to post them tomorrow. But here is a card that I put together using a Krafty Kimmie stamp.

The background is made using a Crayola gel crayon. Then I drew in the sea plants & colored them in with some Twinkling H2O's and regular markers. The mermaid is colored with Copics and Twinkling H2O's. I added a ribbon and used a stamp from my stash to create the sentiment. And I used Glossy Accents to make the bubbles. Another short post but it's summer break and kids are running around and wanting to go outside to play. Have a great night.

tiddly inks challenge #55 sugar & spice

Hi all! This week's challenge was to create a humorous/sarcastic card. I chose to make a swing card.

So I used Autumn Bugg to help in my card creation. Then on the inside I used a rubber TI stamp Fabby from Stamping Bella. I painted the background for the card and got the images of the lemons & chocolate from the Google image gallery. I colored both images with Copics & added Stickles. On the lemon side I did use some MME paper and on the chocolate side I used some MS glitter.

A very short post. Hope this gave you a little chuckle. Now I am going to enjoy my last few moments of freedom before summer break begins. Have a great day : )

So I have slowly been making a collage in between everything that is going on. I have been playing with my watercolors and zentangles.

I am still working on it, but I thought that I would share what I have done so far. I colored my flowers with Twinkling H2O's and Copics. I used the fence from one of the halloween carts from cricut. I added some wire that I colored with a green Copic. Then I added a picture of my daughter & the sun & clouds are from Michelle Houghton.

I don't know what I will add or take away. But I will post it when I figure it out. : ) Hope you all have a great night. And I will talk with you soon. Let me know what you think of what I have done so far.

Another attempt at Zentangling

Hi there! I survived the 1st grade field trip and made my hubby's scrapbook layout for Father's Day. And I got a chance to unwind and do some Zentangling

I think that I will be adding to a collage that I am making. I don't know when the collage will be done, but I'm adding things bit by bit.

tiddly inks challenge #54 Simplify!

Hi everyone!

The warm weather is keeping me busy busy busy. Between gardening & kids' activities & other daily stuff, I'm booked. It kinda makes me miss winter...no not really lol. But less to do would be nice. I think that once school is out & Father's day is done, things will ease up. If not, I just gotta roll with it.

Now for this week's TI challenge we had to do a one layer card. YEESH! That is a tough one.I LOVE layers. While thinking about what I was going to make, I watched a funny Youtube video I love cats. It has nothing to do with crafting. But I found it funny. So I just had to use cats because I love cats. LOL And I don't know if it's cheating by using Photoshop to create the card...

A side view just to show that it's all one layer.

For this card I used a freebie image, the 3 cats, that we received over this past Christmas holiday and removed its background. I also used Rainbow Forest, the purple tree. Other digi images are from Armina's Midnight Blue and Blissful Moments collections. The moon is a google image. The sentiment is colored with Copics and jazzed up with some Stickles.

I personally think that the colors are not as brilliant as when they were on my computer. So here is how the image looked when I put together in Photoshop.

water colors

Hi everyone!

I have to tell you that I not good at drawing. But I love collage & making my own background papers with stamps and stencils. I usually use Twinkling H2Os or acrylic paints or water color crayons. But I have just stumbled upon some water color paints in the art section of A.C. Moore and I love them.

These are Cotman water colors. Now if you are big in art & painting this is nothing new to you, but it is new to me & I love them. You see, the only water colors that I ever really knew were the packages with the circles of paint & you dip your brush into them

I never got the desired look from them. But the tubes are AwEsOmE!! I love creating with these and can't wait to collage with it.

So funny how I have steered away from the art section because I never considered myself an artist. But recently, I had a moment of clarity & realized that I am holding myself back & I am very much an artist in my own right. I remember asking someone at Michael's about the paints, and she told me that those were for serious artists. She then directed me to the Folkart acrylic paints that are $1-$2. I'm not complaining. Those paints work just fine. But to say that I am not serious about my craft is just wrong. I think that we are all great artists and we invest a lot of ourselves into our cards and layouts. They aren't worth hundreds & thousands of dollars. They are priceless. I hope that our kids & grandkids & other relatives are able to look at our work and see & hear us for generations to come. So the better the quality of supplies the longer our creations will last.

Well, thanks for listening to me. I am off to paint and collage and bake cookies because my daughter volunteered me to bake for a school event. lol

my fave layouts from may

In May I took part in LOAD (Layout A Day). I didn't think that it would motivate me or inspire me as much as it did. I am so happy to have been a part of it & look forward to future LOADs. And I thought that I would share a few of my favorite LOs from this time.

All of these were done digitally. I used to tell myself that I liked to do only part of it digitally. & I would do my embellishments once they were printed out. These days I like both. But I am definitely loving digi-scrapping a lot. No worries of paper scraps floating around. No worries of running out of supplies. I have access to supplies whenever, day or night. I think in the long haul it's cheaper. Kits are pretty cheap. And I have the supplies forever. I can use them again & again. Good times : )

Now that LOAD is over I have slowed down in doing LOs. I thought that I could keep up the pace, but I had things going on & stopped. I have to keep plugging away. I have tons of pictures to do from over the years. But is anyone ever really done scrapping their pictures?

tiddly inks challenge #53 going goth

Hi everyone! I've got my camera running. Yay! I am still getting used to it..trying to figure out how to do all of the functions. I wouldn't think that it would be much different from my old point and shoot (it's only 3 years old), but it is. So I will get pictures up for my need to use it post soon...maybe by monday. It's recital weekend for my daughter. So, I'll be busy. Not to busy to get my card in though : )

We had to create a dark yet fun card

For this card I used Katrina. I think that she was one of the first images that I bought. I just love her. I colored her with Copics and added some Stickles. Then I printed out "Journey" using my word program and addded distress ink to it. Then I used chalk ink on an I.O. stamp behind Katrina. The background is done with some water color crayons and I used Tim Holtz stamps on it. The big butterfly is a Tim Holtz stamp and is stamped in glue & ritz glitter. The little butterflies are a Memory Box die colored in Copics & Stickle-d up.

Hope it is Goth enough. Now I am off to be a stage mom. Thank goodness this only happens once a year because I am definitely not stage mom material. I'll be happy when it is over.

10 things i need to use it or lose it

hi everyone!

first i am going to apologize that there are no pictures on this post. my camera died. bummer!! i have only had it for 3 years too. so i did go out & buy a new one, a sony cybershot. not sure if it was the best choice. we will find out. i was going to get a SLR but it's too bulky. and i was leaning towards the cannon, but the sales guy and my husband swayed me over to the sony. i think that i will get an SLR when my mommy bag gets lighter. i like carrying my camera everywhere because you never know when there will be a great shot : ) so once the camera is all fired up i'll add pictures...now to my 10 things

10. the kids' toys. they are piling up and over running the house. i need to sift through them to get rid of the unplay with & unwanted ones & bring them to goodwill.

09. fabric. i have a huge bin of fabric that i have to figure out what to do with. i have made a couple of quilts and clothes but i need to figure out how to use it or where to donate it.

08. yarn. i have maybe 2 or 3 big bins of yarn. all for projects that were planned but never touched. there are a skeins here & there that i just loved the color but didn't know what to do with. and it has been hard to knit/ crochet with my 2 1/2 year old. she is quite the active kid. i always forget where i am in my pattern & have to pull it apart to get to a part that i know. hopefully when she starts school i can start up again.

07. my big xyron adhesive applicator. i haven't used it in forever. maybe the next tag sale i will sell it.

06. eyelets. i have a little stash, but haven't used them. so there they sit.

05. cork. i have saved the cork from the wine bottles for ages now thinking that i have to be able to do something cool with this stuff other than a message board. i still have to find something. they may end up in the garbage soon though.

04. clothes. i have several bins of clothes that i need to sort through and give away to charity. and i have tons of tshirts that need given away or make into something.

03. sweaters. yes i know they are clothes, but i have some wool sweaters that are outdated and i thought that i would make something with them...they are sitting in a garbage bag by my sewing machine waiting for something to happen. they were some of my favorite sweaters back in the day. and i hate to get rid of them.

02. ribbons. i have tons of ribbon. i would make things for my daughter's hair and use them in projects. but my daughter is not into the ribbon thing at the moment. so most of my ribbon is just collecting dust.

01. paper. i would buy paper stacks thinking that i would use all of it and find out that i would use a sheet or two and it has been piling up. i did sell some of it at the tag sale, but there was some paper that i have and wonder what was i thinking?! i don't like this paper. i am trying to use it up in collages.

by de-cluttering i hope that it promotes wonderful positive energy flowing through my house. any ideas about this stuff? what are your things that are piling up and not being used? i would love to hear what everyone has and not using.

tiddly inks challenge #52 darling diva

Hi everyone! the end of the school year is getting closer & closer & there is tons of things going on: school events, dance recital, and field trips. And because it is so nice out we have to go out to the park & play or go hiking or do something outside. so finding time to do crafting is getting tough. But I will find the time : )
This week's challenge was use a diva image

I used an image, You Are Unique from Stamping Bella and I colored it with Copics. It sits inside the card. I cut the window out with a nestability. On the cover I used a few quotes from Audrey Hepburn & Helen Keller on what it means to be beautiful. Then I used distress inks on it & wrinkled it up. Next I added hearts colored with Twinkling H2O & covered with rock candy medium from Tim Holtz. I also added some Washi tape & hand wrote beautiful with a gel pen.

I am going to have to figure out my summer stuff to better fit in my crafting so that I get my cards in on time.

Hey everyone! Finding time to craft during memorial weekend is tough. But I did it!!

This challenge was hard for me. It's hard to make a masculine looking card. I love flowers & butterflies & sparkly stuff. All things that I wouldn't want to put on this type of card. But here is what I came up with

Hmm,,,the photo looks washed out. Sorry about that. I have no idea why that happened.

I used Take a Stand & colored her with my Copics. I added a little bling on her belt & hairclip with some Stickles. I added sentiments on the signs by using my photo program. I placed her on some cardboard that I painted with some Tim Holtz inks. The arrow is from Echo Park digi elements & I added Glossy Accents to it.

Once you open it

Several of guys are there to greet you, Carpenter Joe, GeekaTude with Kiki (a FREEBIE), and Geeky Glen. I put them on metal sheets. I used Claudine Hellmuth's Multi Medium and transferred the images onto the sheets. Then I added a sentiment that I popped up with popdots. Behind these guys are a couple of scalloped circle cut from nesties.

Next you lift this part up

Inside you find Annie Cheers colored with Copics. The paper is part of a paper bag with Washi tape added to it. These days I am interested in the fun fold cards. Can you tell?

My husband is a sci-fi fan who loves his gadgets and talking science. And he has done a great job at building things around the house. There are still things that need to be done but I am not complaining. And of course my girls have him wrapped around their little pinkies. He just melts for them. It's so funny.

have you zentangled?

I just got a book, Yoga for Your Brain. It is about learning how to zentangle. It is all about taking doodling a step beyond. They have a website, http://zentangle.com/index.php. It is quite addictive. And I am having fun taking what I used to do while listening to my professors lecture and allowing it to flourish. (I took notes, but there were those moments where I just doodled.) I miss doodling. I am so busy running around that I don't just sit & relax & just doodle. Now I have a reason to do it. I won't feel like I am wasting time. It is something that I can do with my 7 year old daughter. I am even letting my 2 1/2 year old scribble and then taking that creating a zentangle from it. Here is my first attempt at zentangling

What do you think? I didn't use the multiliner. I just wanted to see what I can do. So I took just a ballpoint pen, a sharpened pencil, & a blending stump and used my go to notebook. This is what I came up with. If you decide to get into zentangling. Let me know so that I can see what you're making.

sorting & purging

I have been working on organizing & purging myself of stuff I no longer want or need in all aspects of my house...I think that I watched one too many episodes of Hoarding: Buried Alive. lol So I tried to sell some stuff at a scrap tag sale which brought in $50 towards scrapping supplies. yay!! And today I am trying to throw out other things in my craft space. But what do I do with all my magazines??

There are a lot of knitting & crocheting mags and with a few crafting ones in there. So I fear throwing them away because I may want a pattern from them one day & it won't be here. I don't feel like spending $5 for one pattern when I got he magazine with a bunch of patterns for $6 or $7. But until I want to use those patterns they are taking up valuable space & collecting dust. I can put them in the basement...I suppose. But that is just 1 more bin down there. A crazy idea of scanning everything ran through my head, but that is just too much to go through.

If anyone has a good idea please tell me. Thanks!

tiddly inks challenge #50 inspire me

Hi everyone! I hope that everyone had a good weekend. I took part in a scrap tag sale & was able to get rid of most of the stuff that I brought there. But I couldn't sell my PC Your Story, even though I priced it dirt cheap. I have no idea what I am going to do with this thing. And some of my paper cutters didn't sell either. I will have to come up with something. I hate having things laying around & collecting dust.

But I know that none of my paints, markers, & pencils are gathering dust. I am always using them on TI projects and cards. For this week's challenge we were given this pallet to work with

I love these colors and I wondered what I was going to make. Then as I was surfing the net, I learned to make a neverending card. I don't know how I ended up at this place but I was so glad that I found it. I LOVE magical fun cards!! And this is so easy to make. It is very addictive.

At the same time, I began humming a song. So here is my take on the card

I used Twinkling H2O's to create the background throughout the card and sprayed it with some Sparkle Shimmer Mist. The cover has Imagination on it along with Mad About You. Both are colored with my Copic markers. Then you open the card.

For this section I used Lilli Claire- Did You Hear? I reversed the image & colored her with my Copic markers. She is walking up Timber Top-Ridge by Make It Crafty. I did the clouds in Liquid Pearls & colored the rest with my Copics. And the birdie on the branch is from a Hero Arts set.

Then you flip it open again

Here I chose Passing Through which was colored by Christy. So all I did to this section was color the card & add the sentiment.

Then you flip the card open yet again (Have you guessed the song that I was humming?)

This is technically the last part of the card. Where I put in the lyrics of Pure Imagination from Willy Wonka. I love this song. The TI image that I used on this page is WhazUp....or Down colored with Copics & Glossy Accents on the balloons. And I also added Message-in-Bottle from Make It Crafty. I also used Copics on this image.

Flip it open again and

you are back to the beginning. You can keep flipping through it over & over again. It reminds me of the tunnel in the Wonka factory.

All the sentiments were made in MS Word & distressed with chalk inks. & Gesso was added sporadically throughout this card. I thought of doing a video of me flipping through the card, but I didn't know if anyone would be interested.

I do hope that you try your hand at this kind of card. It is really fun. My 7 year old has already laid dibbs on this card & she wants to make one too. And if you do make this card let me know so I can see your take on it.

getting ready for a scrap tag sale

It seems like forever since I have posted something. Maybe it is the rainy weather slowing me down. But I have been busy doing my daughter's school memory book & sorting through my stuff for a scrap tag sale at the local scrap shop. I have been making a bunch of tags to put on the things that I am hoping to unload.

I used acrylic paints to make the background. And I used a Tim Holtz stamp & printed out my tag number on the computer. I then added tissue paper & Fabby from Stamping Bella. Yes she is a TI image but in rubber. I colored her with my Copics. Then I scanned her into my computer & printed out as many as I needed. My price tag was punched out from an imaginisce I-top punch and distressed with Tim Holtz inks. Finally I added some Gesso to the tag.

Now I am off to price my stuff & then figure what to make for dinner & what to make for the TI challenge. Hope you are all doing well and staying dry.

For the challenge this week, we could make whatever we wanted as long as we used a TI image. So I got a concept in my head, and I play with it and put it all together and it looks pretty good.

I used Lilli Claire- Make a Wish from TI and Sailing Leaf from Make It Crafty. I colored everything with my Copics. I did use my Prisma pencils to color the sky & add accents in the water. Then I stamped the happy definition from Hero Arts on paper & tissue. My background paper is made with acrylic paints & the edges are glittered up with Martha Stewart glitter. To add just a smidge more shimmer I added some Stickles on Lilli & in the sky. The ribbon was from Michael's. Finally I added some gesso to the card.

the pretty ladies

As I said in my previous post, we cared for some Painted Lady catepillars that became butterflies. This past weekend we released them. Here is one of the pages that I made for our scrapbook.

I did this all digitally. Once I do the other pages, I will print them out and add some other dimensional stuff to it. I got the butterflies from Google Images. To make the page I used the Creative Memories Storybook Creator.

Whenever we go out we look for them. But there is no sign of them anywhere. I think that I will have to plant some lilac bushes to get them to hang out around the house next year when we do this again.

tiddly inks party puzzler blog hop

Hi everyone! I hope everyone enjoyed Mother's Day. I certainly did. My 7 year old wrote a beautiful song for me & drew me some lovely pictures. My sweet husband gave me flowers & a day of not doing anything. We went out to brunch & to dinner. What a great day!!!

Afterwards, I began working on my card for the hop. I found inspiration from an activity that my daughter & I have been doing the past month. We got some catepillars and a cocoon from my friend's shop in Michigan. We watched the catepillars change into butterflies & watched the Luna moth emerge from her cocoon. And on Saturday we set them free. As fun as it was, my dear girlie is so sad that they are gone. She is hoping that they will come and visit. But I told her that they have jobs to do & hopefully their friends will visit.

A little closer look,

I used Flutter By and Bloom Little Lilly for my images. And I also added a couple of images from http://www.makeitcrafty.com.au/ for the tree & the grassy meadow. The artist Zoe makes wonderful images. To color the images I used my Copics and added Stickles and some chalk to bring in some depth. The background on the cover is done with Twinkling H2O's. Then I added some washi tape that I got from the Greeting Farm. I changed them up by coloring them a bit with my Copics. Next I added some buttons that I colored with Copics & added some embroidery floss that I colored with my Copics. The butterflies were done with Liquid Pearls & Stickles. Finally to make the window I used a nestie.

In this card, I have Lili peeking in on how the butterflies are doing because she was the one who painted their wings. After I colored her and added Stickles, I covered this image with Glossy Accents.

Here is the inside

Again the tree is from Make It Crafty. & I used butterflies from Fairy Fae Paper. The sentiment is made through Microsoft Word and inked up with some chalk ink. I know that I have been making a lot of butterfly cards. This will be the last for a while...I think. But I sure am getting use out of Fairy Fae Paper, a good investment for me : )

tiddly inks challenge #48 mother's day flair

i haven't posted anything in the last several days. but it doesn't mean that i haven't been crafting. i have made a several scrapbook LO which i will post at a later date & i have been trying to figure out what to make for this week's TI challenge. we had to make a mother's day card with a shabby chic or vintage feel. and christy made this cute image that got my wheels spinning.

my problem is that i am not much of a doilly kinda of person. but vintage these days means anything over 20 years old. if i go to a consignment shop i could see stuff from the 80's & they call that vintage. or i am driving & i see a pinto with a vintage license plate. WHAT?!

so i ran with these two ideas made

do you remember the books that photos used to come in? do you remember posing & mom saying "oh i don't know if i took that right. or oh i forgot to take the flash bulb off. one more. PERFECT...hopefully." well i remember those days. & i remember when the photo place would stamp the date on the side of the photo.

so for this card i used some kraft paper for the card. i used some hamptom arts stamps (on clearance at michael's) for the camera, sentiment, & date/place box. the doilly that i used was cut from a memory box die.(i figured out how to fit one in.) i then used happy Q as the poor girl who had to continue to pose for the picture. i colored her with my copics. then i scanned her into my computer & took a photo of a part of the great wall of china that i got off of google images & photoshopped them. i blurred the first photo. the second had an over exposure & the third was perfect.

but then i got another idea

i used a crafty me stamp & embossed it on the card. i used distress inks to bring out the embossing. then i took a piece of corrugated cardboad & used some distress inks. then i used my cricut to cut out the hearts. i think that it came from lovestruck. on the hearts i added stickles & liquid pearls. next i stamped the compass from tim holtz. i distressed it & used some crackle medium. then i used love map and going swimming. i didn't do anything to the map & colored going swimming with copics. i used glossy accents on the inner tube & some stickles in the water. inside i wrote,

"thank you for being my compass as i navigate through life & for being my lifesaver when the waters got too rough."

i like them both. which one do you like more?

On Sunday we took the kids to the park for some fun on the playscape on a beautiful day. They loved it. And it was funny to watch our 2 and a half year old try to do everything our 7 year old did. Liana always took the time to make sure that her sister was always safe. It was so sweet to see.

I did this LO all digitally. I like digital because I can re-size my photos to whatever size, make them black & white or sepia, & test crop them. After getting them printed out I may pop the pictures more or use Glossy Accents or Stickles somewhere. But I always get several copies made so I can cut up a copy to bring in some dimension on the final copy.

Do any of you do digital scrapping?

teacher appreciation day

Today is teacher appreciation day here. I spent the last couple of days trying to help my 7 year old put together her present for her teacher, a book written by her. She used the Magical Treehouse books as her model. She wrote about a forest that magically appears in her classroom & she, her teachers, & classmates had to help a fairy return to her fairy self in order for everyone to go home.

I made the cover for her using my digi scrapbooking supplies & distress inks. I made the title using Word on my computer.

Here is her fairy. She used rainbow dreams & used her colored pencils to make her pretty.

She also wanted to use Grow a Little Impatient Tree on the top of each of her chapters. I think that she had 4 chapters. Her drawing is of her standling along the wall of her school.

To bind the book together i used some ribbon from Michael's. It was fun helping her write her story. She has quite the imagination & loved her expressions when she was telling me the story. Of course I prettied it up. I helped her fill in some gaps & tried to keep her on track of the story. But overall she is quite an author. I hope her teacher enjoys it.

Because she spent all her time on this book, I had to make cards for her other teachers, art, music, gym.

For her art teacher I just used some characters from a digi scrapbook kit...I can't remember where it was from though. I also used a nestie to make the scalloped squares & used embossing folders (sizzix i believe) & distress inks to jazz them up. The ribbon was from Michael's. The sentiment was made with Word.

I like this card. I used a new stamp set from Darcie's. A great set. I didn't do much with this other than distress the music sheet. And the sentiment was again made from Microsoft Word.

Thank goodness Christy has some precolored images. It helps me so much when it's crunch time. I think this was a freebie at some point. To embellish I used buttons from A.C. Moore, liquid pearls, washi tape. And the blue paper is MME, & I stamped the plaid Hero Arts stamp on the card.

I admire teachers that work so hard to ensure the love of learning in their students. And thankfully my daughter has a great group of teachers. If you're a teacher, thank you for all that you do for your students.

Hi everyone!! Just wanted to thank everyone for such sweet comments & becoming followers. It made my weekend even more bright & cheery.

After spending all that time outside and enjoying family time, I returned to my crafting corner & started to get ready for Teacher Appreciation Day & try to squeeze in a card for the Tiddly Inks Challenge. I didn't think that I would be able to play for this challenge with everything going on, but I did it : )

For the background I used my Twinkling H2O's directly on a Hero Arts stamp. Then i colored in the clouds with some Twinkling H2O's & some chalk. The TI image is Goldilocks She looks so cheery. I added a rainbow to try to match her happiness. I colored Goldilocks with my Copics & used Stickles on her headband. And I used some specialty paper that I received in a gift bag as a filler for the drapes. The drape tie is embroidery floss. The senitment is computer generated through Word & colored with chalks.

Inside the card,

I used the rainbow again & added a butterfly from the Fairy Fae paper. Yes, i just had to add a butterfly somewhere in my card. lol I am just loving butterflies the past several months. I colored the butterfly with Copics, added white gel pen to embellish, & used Stickles for its body. And I again went into Word & made my sentiment.

Phew. I feel better that I was able to play along this week with TI. Now back to being a good mom & getting my 7 year old's cards & presents ready for her teachers.

a spring layout

This weekend was just beautiful around here. I spent the weekend outside playing with my family. & today I actually got into the garden & began weeding. I need to start putting some mulch down. This is what I will be doing throughout the season. But that is okay. I love to garden. When we moved into our house, there were no gardens. No pops of color anywhere...very sad. Now there is some. And I will be adding more each year. Here is a quick peek of what I get to see out my bedroom window.

I did this LO all digitally. I colored the background. Then added some Echo Park striped paper. I made my journal strips. And this LO took all of 15 to 20 minutes. I will file this away & when I complete my garden book I will put my pages on a CD & go to Staples & get them printed out & set them in an album.

I am sure that I will do some hybrid LO's. & I know that I am going to want to stamp on some LO's. But I think I like the simplicity of this one. What do you think?

I found Tiddly Inks last October & have been a fan ever since. Christy is a wonderful artist. I love all of her images from the cutesy girls to the gothic images & the boy & animal digis are awesome as well. And the community that she has been building is so creative, inspirational & welcoming. She is just an amazing person. When I was asked to be a part of this celebration I had to jump at this opportunity to be side by side with such fabulous people.

My card today features Tiddly Inks' new image Party Time. It is just one of about 20 new images that Christy created for her birthday celebration and you can find the rest of the images here.

For this card I made the background with Twinkling H2O's & salt. Then used my square nestie to cut out the window. I used the Fairy Fae paper to get a few whimsical butterflies that were again colored with Twinkling H2O's. Then I added Glossy Accents & Jolee gems to them. The other butterflies are cut from a Memory Box die. I again used Twinkling H2O's for color & then added stickles to make them pop. The leaves are also from Memory Box. But they are stamped out & colored with Twinkling H2O's. (Can you tell that I love using Twinkling H2O's). I tried chalk inks but it wasn't quite the hues that I wanted. Then I added Glossy Accents for dimension. The pixies were colored with Copics & embellished with Stickles. The senitment is from a Hero Arts stamp set.

Inside the card is Paisley Pixie. She is a Christy creation but is found over at Stamping Bella.

Paisley & her bouquet are colored with Copics. The puff balls are done up with flocking. & I added Stickles to give a pixie dust feeling. (I just love Stickles & look for reasons to add it lol) The butterflies are from the Memory Box die & are jazzed up with Stickles. The sentiment is from another Hero Arts stamp set.

i was busy trying to get ready for our trip when my husband needed a bday card for a colleague. with all the things that are on my list, how could i find time to make a card? lol i took a break and got one done.

so i used my essentials glue pad & glued up a feather stamp & added with twinkling h2o's. i made the bird with the help of the 50 states card & ritz glitter & a little copic marker. i used a mini punch for the flowers & colored them with my copics & held them together with a rhinestone brad. the ribbon is from joann's. the bottom layer is cut out from a grocery bag. the middle layer is a scrap piece. i added some music tape from tim holtz, printed out my sentiment from my computer, added some liquid pearls. the leaves were stamped from a memory box stamp & i put glossy accents on them.

okay this may be the last post before family time. i am going to try to do a stamping bella challenge, but we'll see.

so for this challenge i used oliver from just for you. & i used some stamps from inky antics & memory box & hero arts.

i colored oliver, the toad, toadstool, & bees with copics. i stamped a hero arts stamp into gesso on a piece of cardboard & colored it with twinkling h2o's. then i added some silver paint to the cardboard. underneath the cardboard i painted some paper with twinkling h2o's & stamped it with various stamps & sewed to the card. on the card itself i used some chalk ink to color it up. i hand wrote the sentiment & added washi tape for some accent. for the bees i attached them to some wire with glue dots. finally i added stickles to give a little shine.

hi there! i've been with being sick & caring for sick little ones all week. very exhausting. & i have to make travel plans for the upcoming week. so i'll be taking a break for a couple of weeks while off on a trip. so for bunny hop i wanted to incorporate an easter egg hunt since i won't be blogging on easter.

i used mad about you & bunny boo adventures & colored them with my copics. on the bunny i added some cotton for his tail. the background is made with twinkling h2o's & various hero arts stamps & inky antic stamps. then i sewed it to the card. then i sliced up some green cardstock for grass & used some distress inks on it. i used a clock stamp & UTEE to add some texture & dimension. i freehanded the teacup & eggs. to glitter up the eggs, i used my martha stewart glitter & glossy accents. next i punched out some circles & colored them with the twinkling h2o's and shaped them into flowers. finally i used my martha stewart butterfly punch & added stickles & twinkling h2o's.

hey there! this challenge was about using things new to you. so what is new with me? the stamp, twirl anya, is new to me. i haven't used her yet. i also haven't made a small pinwheel for a card either. also i used my new martha stewart punch.

i also used my copics, mme paper, i.o. cover stamps, hero arts stamps, twinkling h2o's & a few nesties. oh i also used mother's day 2010 cricut cart to make the pinwheel out of aluminum & colored it with my copics & stickles. i used embossing powder on the flower hero arts stamp & then colored it in with my twinkling h2o's.
several of us are under the weather. so i am making this quick. but i do appreciate you stopping by.

birthday card

this weekend will be my husband's birthday. when we were dating i would go all out & do something every day for the week leading up to his birthday. now that we have been married for a while & have 2 little ones, he's lucky if he gets a weekend celebration. poor guy. but i do my best in making him a great cake, delicious meals, and cool house decorations. we don't do presents these days. but we have our oldest daughter (& when our youngest is old enough she'll help too) pick out something little to give.

so here is the card that i made for him

i used some mme paper & some paper that i made myself & created the background. then i took a memory box stamp & inked it up with some brown ink. i then ran it through my printer to make the sentiment. next i used an owl stamp from hero arts & colored it with my copics & spica pens. then i used glossy accents on top of the owl. after it dried, i used distress ink. next i punched out the film strip using the tim holtz die. i added paper that i had my 2 year old paint with water colors & i stamped it with some mini hero arts stamps...i tried to get her to stamp the paper but she couldn't quite do it yet. she was having more fun messing with the ink. lol to color in these stamps i used my gel pens. finally i used some curly ribbon from hallmark as embellishment.

i had to do something to trick my 6 year old. nothing major but something to get a little chuckle when she is at school. i changed up her lunch box. i put her snack in her lunch section & her lunch in her snack section...crazy i know. but i didn't want to do to much & have it disrupt her class. & i put a card in her lunch box to tell her april fool's. the card opens backwards & i used removable tape to seal it shut. wonder if she will catch on to it before she has to open the card....yes i need to get out more.

i did this up quickly this early a.m. i used hero arts stamps & colored them up with my copics. i used stickles in the frame area. very basic. but it is meant to be a quick note.

it's christy's birthday!!! so i hurried up to get my card done so i could post it close to her birthday.

i used minnie and colored her with copics, prisma pencils, spica pens & added stickles & liquid pearls. then i used some bo bunny valentine paper & ribbon. i trimmed things up with a scallop corner punch. next i took my essentials glue pad & added glue to a memory box stamp & stamped my black card. afterwards i added some ritz glitter. next i stamped my sentiment in chalk ink with a just rite stamp. the flowers in the upper left corner are hero arts stamps dressed up with chalk ink, stickles & liquid pearls. i think that is all i did.

happy birthday christy!! you are such an amazing artist & person & have added so much to my craftiness. thanks for everything!!! i hope that this year brings much happiness, love, & peace. & i hope that you have many more fabulous years ahead of you. xoxoxo

farm fresh friday spring break challeng

i never did the spring break trips with friends. i would have but i had strict parents & defying them on this one would have been ugly. so i spent my spring breaks hanging around the house or on family trips. good times but not the crazy times that are associated with spring break.

i used sunshine kit & colored her with my copics & partially stamped the sentiment. the original was sand sun & tons of fun. then i made a tag & embossed it with a tim holtz folder & inked it up with my distress inks. then i added green tissue & tried to make it look like a grass skirt. then i took my wave ek punch & cut up some strips. then cut out the palm trees in white card stock with the create a critter cart. then i used my copics to color them. i added a few stickles here & there.

this is what i would like to do for spring break..get away from the coldness. but maybe mother nature will be kind & bring the warm weather to new england.

i have definitely been having fun doing my own thing this week making cards just to make them. my 2 year old is my biggest fan. with every card she looks at it & says " oooohhhhh AMAZING mama. i like." it is so nice that she approves. lol my 6 year old loves the cards too, but the enthusiam from the little is just cute.

so here is my card for this week's challenge

i used my nestability & cuttlebug to make the card. i made an extra shape to cover the fold. i like it better when the whole shape is there. i then punched holes in the circle border & colored in the holes. i used autumn bugg & colored her with copics & added a little pearls to give her wings some shine...the pix doesn't quite show that. then i added stickles & liquid pearls in colors to match with the given photo. i also used a bee stamp & a sentiment stamp from hero arts. twinkling H2O's were used to color the background in light purple, pink & peach. i added some tim holtz tape & some silver ribbon.

YAY!! got my computer to cooperate : ) so here are a few more cards that i made.

this card was made with a hero arts flower stamp. i used memento ink & prisma pencils. the background was done with chalk inks. the senitment is also a hero arts stamp. a very simple card. but i like it.

this card was fun. i did the background with a hero arts background stamp inked up with chalk ink. i cut out hoo's with cricut. then the sentiment was also hero arts. & the cute owl was hero arts too. he was colored with copics. i also colored the hoo's with my copics.

this one is was stamped with a la blanche stamp colored with copics. the silly bunny is an ink antics image colored with my copics. the sentiment is from inky antics. the background papers are from the valentine stack from K & Company. the card itself was stamped with a hero arts background stamp & inked up with distress inks.

it is so nice to make cards just for me not following any rules of a challenge. but i do love the challenge blogs that i enter in too. just trying to find time to do both. off to work on my tiddly inks challenge card.

so i have decided to make some cards just because. i have actually been toying with the idea of selling them. i go out & see cards that some people are selling & i think to myself that my cards are just as nice. maybe i should jump into this realm...stilling pondering the idea. anyways, here are a card that i made

for this card, i stamped a stampendous roses stamp with black memento ink. i colored it with my copics & liquid pearls & stickles. the background of the roses is done with twinkling H2O's. the bottom layer is done up with distress inks. the black paper is K & C paper. the little tag was printed off my computer. the ribbon i believe was from michaels.

i will post others later. my computer is acting up : ( i am using my old computer while the main one is getting repaired. but this one has its own issues.

i think that i like monochromatic cards. for this one i picked blue.

for this card, i used mme papers cut out with my nestabilities. below those papers i stamped a memory box stamp in distress inks. i then added another memory box stamp on top of all the papers in distress inks. on the top mme paper i stamped it with hero arts butterflies. then i added a ribbon that i colored with my copics. i used camille. i colored her with my copics & embellished her with some liquid pearls. the butterflies in the corner are punched out with a mini punch, colored with my copics & embellished with distress stickles.

it was a great st. patrick's day for me & my family. it was great weather & we were out revelling in it. today was the same & once again we were out playing so getting my tiddly inks card posted was delayed. so belated happy st. patrick's day. i hope someone found a nice pot of gold to pay for all of your scrapping needs & wants lol.

i used arthur from the annie & arthur set at stamping bella. these two are just so sweet!! i'll have to use annie in another card. i also used a stampology stamp (enjoy) & used green embossing on it & outlined it with my white gel pen. from the simply charmed cricut cart i got the pot. i used my circle punch to cut out the gold coins. the shamrock is a stick from a packet i got at the grocery store. the shamrock ribbon is from joann's. the background is a mix of hero arts stamps & a crafty individuals stamp. & also i used distress inks, copics, & acrylic accents. for arthur's clothing i paper pieced it with MME paper.

little pots of gold

since tomorrow is st. patrick's day, my 6 year old daughter & i wanted to make a little something to give to her class & teachers.

so we used the cricut to make the pots. & i got some chocolate coins from munsons chocolate shop to put in the pots. the stamp is from studio g (the dollar bin stamps in joann's). we used chalk ink & gel pens to embellish along with some hemp string.

we hope that her class & teachers enjoy this little token.

a few projects

over the weekend, i decided to make a couple of things just for me. no challenges or set themes. i just sat down as i used to & just started to create....

supplies: i used the tim holtz sewing stamp set & die set. i added some of his tape, punched out some butterflies out of mme paper with my ms punch, & used scraps of materials left over from some sewing projects. i also added some stickles & liquid pearls & a few heart buttons. i then used my cricut for the sew. oh, the tape measure is yellow ribbon that i made into a tape measure. on the dress form i used a sizzix embossing folder & chalk inks. finally i used some embroidery floss in the buttons & on the spool. i also used some distress stains & gesso.

i actually stamped something into the gesso in the upper right corner, but the camera didn't pick it up.

for this card i used mme paper in the back. then on sticky back canvas i used distress stains & paint dabbers. then i stamped a hero arts stamp & colored the butterfly & dragon fly with copics & stickles. then on acetate i stamped the butterfly & dragon fly & colored them with my copics & added more stickles. then layered the acetate critters on top of those on the canvas. finally added some button brads from making memories.

spring is so close. i can feel it!! i can see the ground & i no longer stand taller than my 6' hedges while standing on the snow (i'm 5'2). YAY!!

so anyways, the challenge at tiddly inks was to use kraft paper in any way

i LOVE twinkling H2O's. there are beautiful colors & give such a great effect. i still love my distress inks but the H2O's are just so vibrant. great for spring & summer.

i made this background during christmas, & i didn't know where to use it. thank goodness for this challenge.

i used signature stamp set from gfs, everyday paper dolls cricut cart, hero arts stamp, distress inks, stickles, liquid pearls, buttons & ribbon & glossy accents as well as my copic markers.

as i was pondering what to make for my card for this week's challenge, i kept thinking of gumdrops. i don't like eating them. i just love their colors. & then i started singing the gumdrop song, "if all the raindrops were lemondrops & gumdrops oh how happy i would be..."

tiddly inks challenge #39: shaker card

i hope that everyone had a great weekend. mine was a fun family weekend. we went to the natural history museum & the kids loved the space & dinosaur exhibits. then on sunday we did some work around the house to de-baby the house. yes, my baby has outgrown the baby gates & other barriers. kinda sad, but i am so happy to not have to deal with gates anymore. it was a reason for celebration.

& balloons are always a part of a celebration. they are so much fun. it always brings a big smile to my kids' faces when they get one. & i love the whaz up or whaz down digi ...

the confetti inside are punches of butterflies & birds glittered up with martha stewart glitter. the rest of the supplies are: copic markers, hero arts stamps, chalk ink & distress ink, stickles, embroidery floss (for the balloon strings), buttons & ribbon from either michael's or joann's, an acetate sheet, a nestability for the window, & 3M double sided foam tape.

as a side note, i tried to not use foam tape & use the fun foam that my daughter & i use for some of her projects, but it was messy. 3M tape is definitely the way to go. & i was going to just use glitter inside the shaker, but it just didn't seem right. the white glitter looked like snow. blue glitter reminded me of rain. & the other colors just didn't call out to me. punches felt right.

hair ribbon clip

instead of making any kind of paper scrapping today, i decided to play with ribbon. so i decided to make a clip for my daughter. i have more ribbon than i know what to do with...most of it is from michael's.

i curled the ribbon myself & painted the button with my copics. what do you think???

texturized farm fresh friday

hi there everyone! hope you're enjoying your day. i have been running around with the kids since it is winter break. did anyone get any good deals for presidents' day sales?

for fff we had to have 2-3 different textures. i used flower soft, embossing, washi tape, buttons, added a layered flower. & popped up oliver. so i think i meet the texture requirement. lol

a side angle may help see the different textures.

so i used a tim holtz embossing folder, flower soft bike stamp & added summer & lavender flower soft. i also used my copics & distress inks on the bike image. but i think my flash washed out the picture. i colored oliver with my copics & added a flower from the spring seasonal cricut collection. then i added some brown washi tape & colored a button with my copics & used some stickles. the final layer was stamped with a mesh stamp in distress ink.

here are 2 cards that i made for valentine's day. i made a few more but forgot to take pictures of them before they were mailed out. but i thought that i would post these two.

for this card i used a hero arts stamp for the background. the birds are a memory box stamp that i covered with stickles. i used an ek success punch, ribbon from michaels. the button was colored with my copics. i freehand the hearts with stickles & a gel pen.

for this card, i used a memory box stamp for the adore image. the humming bird is a stamp that i got from michaels. & the larger bird is a tim holtz image. i embossed the green paper with a cuttlebug folder & used some distress ink to jazz it up. the last layer was done up with distress inks & a hero arts stamp. the twine is from one of my favorite local scrap shops.

tiddly inks challenge #38: monochromatic

this week has gone by so quickly. i haven't done much of my own crafting because i was busy with my daughter's school activities, but of course i made time for the tiddly inks challenge. so we got to choose our color. mine was purple, the crown chakra. i was hoping that working with purple would bring some enlightenment...i realized that i could not make all the things i wanted to this week & be an attentive mom & wife. so i guess it worked. lol. & this is what i made

i used 3 of the pixies from christy's rubber collection from stamping bella. i saw these & LOVED them. & i had to get them...but i feel that way with most all of christy's work. i think that this is still eligible. if not, please let me know. i used my copics & memento ink to get the effect that i wanted. the flowers are all from hero arts. to create the sky i used twinkling h2o. i also used a cuttlebug folder for some embossing & another stamp to make the final layer of my card. & i also used a hero arts flower stamp to create my roses (also colored with my copics). finally i used a large scallop martha stewart punch & some washi tape that i colored with my copics. oh i can't forget that i used stickles to add shimmer & shine to everything.

when i started scrapping back in the 80's, i had no idea of scrapping stores or of the scrapping world. i went to hallmark & to office supply stores & made all the effects that i wanted. & with this card i kinda wanted to go back to that. so i used regular cardstock & did all the effects. thank goodness for all the wonderful tools that i have now! my stuff back then did not look as nice as the stuff i make today.

farm fresh friday color combo 2-11

i didn't think that i was going to do much of challenges this week, but my 6 year old is feeling a little blue. so i had to do something to bring a smile to her face & i figured that this would work with this challenge. it was to use pink, turquoise, & whatever color of my choosing. i chose gold.

i used gold glitter ritz & then used white glitter ritz & colored it pink & aqua/turquoise. i also cut the star shape from the plantin school cart. the wavy shape was cut with my ek success punch. & the girl was colored with my copics. finally the cloud background is a hero arts stamp. WOW! i didn't use stickles in this one. lol!

i hope that this brightens her day at school. she is such a super kid...so effervescent & always looking out for the best for others. she does follow the beat to a different drummer than the other kids & i think that is bringing her down. hopefully she learn to deal with this sooner than later. i was the same way.
